Corey Baker
Corey Baker is a librarian whose most joyful hobby is dance. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he began his formal dance training in college where he studied contemporary African Dance practice (Umfundalai) under C. Kemal Nance, principal dancer with Kariamu & Company. At the same time, he practiced Ballet, Horton, and Dunham techniques alongside the Philadelphia Dancer Company (Philadanco) during their academic year Training Program. Since then, he has trained and danced with companies in Denver (Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Davis Contemporary Dance Company) and Boston (JAE, Bosoma, Jazz Inc Dance) and worked on dance projects with choreographers in San Francisco. Here in Columbus, he’s excited to have found a dance home at Inspiration to Movement, performing on occasion with Oyo Dance Company.
Sarah Dove
Sarah Dove is a Columbus native who has been dancing for most of her life. She attended Otterbein University where she received a Bachelor’s degree is Music & Business with a minor in Dance. She then went on to pursue Dance for her Master’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While completing her Master’s degree, Sarah had the opportunity to perform work set by Renay Aumiller at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She has been an active member of the Columbus dance community, performing professionally with Columbus Moving Company, and is a founding member of Columbus Dance Alliance, a dance and performance art non-profit organization. Sarah is also a full-time staff member in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University, and teaches in the Trainee Program at BalletMet.
Kelly Hurlburt
Kelly Hurlburt is a movement artist, performer, educator and dance advocate based in Columbus, Ohio. After receiving her B.F.A. in Dance from OSU, Kelly sought out a performing career, exploring collaborations with artists in the US and internationally in Israel and Denmark. Her performing career has included performance venues such as Wexner Center for the Arts, Velocity Dance Center in Seattle, Mascher Space in Philadelphia, LaSalle Theatre in Cleveland, and Zichri Theatre in Ga'aton Israel. Kelly is currently on Faculty as an adjunct professor of dance at Ohio University and teaches locally in Columbus as an ongoing facilitator of Columbus Contact Improvisation, as well as an instructor for adult students at Flux + Flow Dance & Movement Center. She is one of the Founding members of SeaBus Dance Collective, a group of movers who research improvisational practices in performance making. Kelly is also a founding member of Columbus Dance Alliance.
Hana Newfeld
Hana Newfeld is a collaborative dance artist working in Columbus, Ohio. She holds BFA in dance from The Ohio State University focusing in improvisational practices, interdisciplinary dance, dance film, and dance technology. She is a founding member of Columbus Dance Alliance. She is the co-creator of Soft Moss Dance Club, a dance performance project. SMDC makes dances that are memorable and offbeat, informed by contemporary dance, contact improvisation, drama, and deep friendship. Their work has been performed at various events and festivals in Ohio including at The Wexner Center for the Arts and the OhioDance Festival Concert. They have also been featured in local Columbus 614 magazine as a part of their May 2019 Maker’s Space spread. Hana plans to continue to help dance flourish in her Ohio community.
Katherine Moore
Katherine G. Moore is a movement and teaching artist whose work spans theaters, outdoor environments, galleries, and community spaces. Katherine earned a BA from Hope College and an MFA from The Ohio State University. Active professionally as a performer and choreographer across the US for over a decade, some recent achievements include residencies at The Croft (MI), Keshet Center for the Arts (NM), and Akron Soul Train (OH). In addition to holding extensive teaching experience in studio and community settings, she was also a faculty member at the University of Southern Mississippi from 2019-2022. She currently lives in Columbus, OH, where she is an adjunct lecturer at The Ohio State University.
Oajah Alcorn
Oajah Alcorn is serving Columbus Dance Alliance as our inaugural intern marketing intern. As a graduate student studying the ins and outs of the arts and entertainment industries, Oajah knew that she wanted to begin my experience in something that she loved. Dance was her first passion, and has continued to be a part of her life. In her spare time, Oajah is always looking for a variety of styles of dance classes to take. Currently working with a team that is dedicated and passionate about seeing dance continue to thrive in Columbus, Oajah is excited to see how CDA unites and strengthens this incredible community.
